A World Class Travel Destination – Lake Tahoe
While Lake Tahoe is a great tourist destination during winter, the summer also presents a sight to behold and adventurous moments for fun seekers. In the warmth of the season, summer outdoor activities are carried out on land, water and even in the sky!
Of all the land activities available at the Lake during summer, biking and hiking are very popular with several trails around the Lake. Tahoe has one of the best mountain biking areas, bikers have an opportunity to travel round the lake through the famous Tahoe Rim Trail which extends to about 165 miles; another one of such trails is the Flume Trail which is 14 miles in length. For hikers, directly to the west of the lake is the Granite Chief Wilderness suitable for both camping and hiking. Other land activities available for summer tourists are running, horseback riding, golfing and camping. While golfers could take advantage of the several courses around the lake such as the Old Brockway course, campers and outdoor enthusiasts can have fun at the Goose Meadows campground on the Truckee River and the Kaspian on the west shore.
Lake Tahoe is also a haven for different water sports and beach activities during summer. The blue water of the lake is a tempting sight for Scuba Divers and Snorkelers. Diver can benefit from the specific sites in Sand Harbor, Diver’s Cove and Emerald Bay where there are good depths favorable for diving. Another aquatic activity is the Standup Paddle boarding which involves standing on a surfboard and pushing through the calm water with a long paddle. Boating is also a prominent activity in Tahoe during summer; there are several boating events to be part of, one of such is the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance which is one of the most prestigious wooden boat shows in the United States. Other aquatic activities in the Tahoe are rafting, parasailing, and kayaking which have unique fun features.
To cover the interests of sky sports lovers, visitors can have fun at Incline Village taking part in bungee jumping and hand gliding. Tourists can also get a birds-eye view of the lake from a hot air balloon flying at about 10,000 feet above sea level.
Overall, with the different tourist attractions, there is no denying to the fact that Lake Tahoe is indeed a destination to be for fun-seekers, it is an embodiment of nature’s playground to accommodate individual preferences and also a huge source of revenue for the US government.
